Still Knitting For Baby

Filed under: Beckett, Knitting, Reading — Karen @ 2:52 am

I am knitting the Zodiac for my soon to be granddaughter.  I got to the bind off and realized I was looking at the directions for the larger size - even though I circled the size I needed.   I ripped down 11 inches.  That hurt!

Hubby has a bad back.  Hurt it chipping on the second hole and continued to play the 16 holes because “it didn’t hurt any worse”.  So now he’s hobbling around with a crocked back.  Poor baby!

Tonight I lost $2.00 again to the Beckley Babes -  our Monday night set back club.

On Wednesday some of us are going to see The proposal.

Poor baby Beckett is sick.  He has been throwing up all day and  is not his perky self.  I know he still feels bad as he hasn’t wanted to go for his walks.

We had BLTs for dinner tonight with our fresh patio tomatoes!  Mmmm tasty.

I went to Bridgeport to see the house Katie and Doug are moving into.  It is his Grams and his Grandfather built it himself and his Dad grew up there!   Maybe there will be more Secors coming along.

Mystery Yarn Sweater

Filed under: Reading, Uncategorized, stash — Karen @ 6:01 pm

I found some acrylic yarn in my stash - a huge - ball and decided to knit up a Kimono.  This yarn knitted up easy and quite washable.

But the sweater keeps getting lost.
I test drove a new car and left the knitting bag in the back and called the dealership twice and they swear they didn’t find it in the car.  I, luckily, bought the car and there it was it the back!

Then that weekend I went to Maine with my girlfriend to visit her Mom and left it there.  SIt’s finished now. I was just attaching the i-cords in Maine.
So now it’s vacationing there until she goes back.

Feeling frustrated I did the sweater in a 100% Mercerised Cotton by Tahki.  That’s finished too.

Then I decided to organize my stash.  That was a 6 hour project, which included unraveliving some left over balls of yarn that the dog thought were toys.   I have a lot of stash.

I wonder . . .  Is it alright to throw away stuff you don’t like?  Nah, give it to Good Will.

I just finished reading a book about “The Troubles” in Ireland (that’s not the name of the book) The Marching Season by David Silva.

Now I’m reading the book club book, which is an easy read.   Next on deck Loving Frank: A Novel by Nancy Horan. A book about Frank Lloyd Wright’s life.  My sister-in-law read for her book club.  She said it was great.

KAREN GOT A NEW CAR

The Kia Soul is a compact, mini MPV  produced in South Korea.
I have to admit it was a bit of an impulse purchase., but I love it.  When I confessed that to my oldest daughter, she said “why didn’t you just get a new pocketbook!”.

I’ve had a pretty busy two weeks.  I went with my girlfriend to visit her mom in Mount Desert Island, ME .  EIGHT hours drive from here where it rained the whole 4 days!

When I returned home AJ was here to visit and I took my grandson and my nephew to Lake Compounce for a 6 hour visit.

Yesterday my brother came down from Pittsfield, MA to pick up two queen sized mattresses from a neighbor who is cleaning out her daughters condo and I had to schlep mattresses with him from the second floor of the unairconditioned condo.  Then we bought her 9 bags of mulch as a thank-you because the place where he works stopped making mulch.

All the while my smallest grandchildren were there begging me to take them to the Kid Museum in Middletown or to Lake Compounce.  Time has no meaning to them. I compromised and took Jake and Ryan to see ICE AGE #3 in 3-D.   Ryan left extracting a promise to take her to Lake Compounce next week.  We had grinders from the pizza place for dinner. I’m tired just writing about it.

I’m busy these days on face book, so I haven’t even been reading my blogs, but that’s because Amy, Paula, and Cynthia are slackers when it comes to blogging.   What?  Just because they have new babies?

Also the the baby sweater knitted with the mystery yarn?   Remember that.  I lost it in the test drive of my new car only to find it when I came back to pick up the purchased car. I took it to Maine and forgot it there.  At least it’s all done.  Well almost.  I attached 3 i-cords and need to make the 4th to finish.   Hopefully I can get Louise to mail it back.
